Planted some hellebores in the autumn. Fairly decent sized plants, roots filled a 3 inch pot. Is it likely they'll flower this year? How long do they take to get established?
    Are y'oroight booy?

You might be lucky and get the odd flower this year but they can take several years to get established and flower.

Runners up are the winter-flowering jasmine on the front of the house and the little campanulas self-seeded up the stone steps out the back

(0h dear, still can't work out how to flip them the right way up! )
I always look forward to my three cornered leeks flowering as we make a delicious potato salad with the flowers!

These little irises in a pot are my flowers of the month for February. Like January, there's no runners up because these are the only things in bloom at the moment.

My crocuses are the brightest thing in the garden at the moment, but they got a mention last month. So my February choice is the winter aconite. Here's a little clump in my front wall:

January consisted of 'viola jump up' which haven't done that well this year

and a few 'star of bethlehem'? I was told that was what they were when given them but not convinced. There are usually a few odd ones flower most of the year with two mass flowering show.

February. Hellybores are a winner for me. On the left is a white one I got last year and on the right is green rose which I was recently given.

Then the runners up are snowdrops which are now opening, the first of the crocuses and one of only a handful of primroses which have survived 2 vine weevils attacks.

Flowers of the month, or the only ones in flower at the moment. There may be some runners up later.

I call them starflowers. Ipheion. Or Brodieia. Some people call them one thing, some the other.

(For me, ipheion are one flower per stem and white, brodeieia are multi headed and blue)

I'll put it through the photo-rotator today, shall I?

                          Nice pup, is it yours?
Ah, yes, he is - I should read a post all the way through first time

I missed February, but it was still the winter honeysuckle anyway. And it's still covered in flowers. The bees really do love it, and ignore the crocuses which have now taken over as Flower of the Month chez Mothhawk
