Flowers of the month are my hyacinths,the compost had frozen in the pot when they were undercover in the shed & one uprooted itself. I accidentally broke a bit of frozen root off (they weren't flexible at all) when replanting. I thought three bulbs were doomed,the shoots were barely showing when I took them out the shed but all's ok,they've all flowered.

I am gonna cheat on the winner and say fritillarias as my snakes heads are out and they are fantastic as well IMO.



Runners up - auriculas, laced polyanthus and posh daffs

April flowers

These are the only two plants in flower in my newish flower bed.
North facing and doing well.
The bleeding heart was a surprise, lost the label and like the Camelia this is the first flowering

Flowers of the month are broad beans aguadulce & meteor peas sowed in the autumn. Its nice to have some early flowers for the bees & I wondered how the bees would like some broccoli flowers & they love them! These bees look completely black with yellow pollen sacs,they're really busy workers & the plants can stay there,I don't need the bed yet.

I'm amazed my petunia came back this year,I cut it right down & left the pot outside all winter,it deserves to be my flower of the month for teaching me its a perennial. I've only ever grown them annually,this years petunias haven't started flowering yet,you can see one in the large pot but this one has many flowers now

Has to be the Phormiums/New Zealand Flax. There are 2 of them, one plain and one variegated and I had them from Freecycle 10 years ago, when they were quite small!

Sunflower with unusual number of petals, maybe twice as many as sunflowers typically. Anybody know anything about this or how common it is?

This sunflower grown from a seed saved from a Mongolian Giant flower from last year. Could be a mutation, or a recessive trait randomly being expressed, or hybridised with a different sunflower grown the same year.
