  • Gigantic Foxgloves

Last summer a friend gave me a pack of six teenyweeny foxglove seedlings. I planted four in our trees and two in the tub outside our door. In the trees there is now no sign of the foxgloves leaves which is normal of course.

I took this photo of the two outside our door yesterday. They have turned into enormous man eating monsters...well ok that's a slight exaggeration but surely it's a bit weird? We've had frost and a bit of snow but nothing seems to upset them.

I Love Foxgloves. I allways save seed and scatter it in the spring. They tend to take another 14 months before they flower. Bees love em too.

I sowed a load last year and I think someone forgot to tell them it is winter. They are not as big as yours but they are green, perky and healthy.

        They look very healthy.

I find that foxgloves vary in size quite a lot depending on how early they germinated and how well they have been looked after. You should have some lovely flowers next May!

Oh then I will look forward to the flowers. I love foxgloves but I've never seen them grow quite this enormous

I have some big clumps here too - they self-seed everywhere - usually in the wrong place

I have other fox gloves in the trees but they didn't do too well last year, not sure why it was quite disappointing, perhaps they just didn't seed themselves like they usually do.

I have some foxgloves too which are exactly the same - massive hulking great leaves that don't seem to be at all bothered by the frost and snow.
