Freesia

I've never had much joy with freesia, even though they are one of OH's favourite fragrant blooms
I've just planted some corms in polystyrene modules this evening. I've left the tops sticking out (similar to onion sets!) as I want to see if they grow. If I get some top growth I'll probably pot them on deeper, but for the time being I would like to see whats going on!

What is the secret to growing freesia?

Wish I knew too. I've grown nice leaves before now.

I keep trying too. This time, its 5 bulbs to a terracotta pot, 5 pots in total, currently in a coldframe, in a GH.
Would love to bring pots of freesias into the house. So much nicer than Airwick

I blame the bulbs.

Last time I planted them in spring at my allotment, they sat there all year and came up in November. Then the frost got them.

I've previously tried them in a pot on the windowsill. They came up and I did get a few leggy flowers but disappointing.

So possibly worth spending more for bulbs (or are they corms?) from a specialist grower, rather than the prepackaged ones from the garden centre.

Again tried and failed. I think I plant them too shallow, I read somewhere they should be planted at least 4 inches deep in humus rich soil

Attempting freesia this year too. Will post photos if I get anything. I thought they needed to be planted quite deep?

I've never had any success with freesia, sadly given up trying now

Blimey that's a tale of woe!

I grew some from seed as a kid, and got some nice pots of flowers, but I haven't tried them since. I like a big vase of Lilies in the house ... if I could figure a way to grow them all the year round it would save me a fortune at the florist!
