        • X & Y I couldn't do with my seeds but I finished the alphabet with Z for Zinnia Early Wonder proper sowing date is April-May,or sow direct May-June,I just sowed 3 seeds out of 150 in the packet, see how they do etc. Most of my a-z seedlings are growing ok,a couple are a bit leggy & a couple haven't germinated-old seeds, but alls well that ends well, got some nice little seedlings here

              • VC, I like your flexible calendar... I am much the same.

Did you have much success from the seeds that were sown early? I am tempted to do a mixed seed tray every 2 weeks or so, to try & get a large amount of flowers throughout the spring, summer & autumn.

I've sown a few already to experiment if/how well they germinate & they've all come through super quick on the windowsill.
Obviously I can't plant them out yet, but excited to try a few more.

                Thanks

                • I've no idea how successful the early sowing were, sorry. I started this a few years ago and most of the seeds were old and out of date. January sowings are made when there's not much else to sow and my fingers are itchy. I must do it again - still have hundreds of packets.

                  • I get really impatient in January and February, I want to get out there and get things started. Hence why I like the flexible calendar.

I have collected quite a lot of seeds now, and I'm itching to plant them. I may just have to give it a bash and see what grows & what survives.

Maybe I'll use your alphabet system it's a great idea.

                    • I sow veggies or fruit on Monday every week, with a 4 week rotation. Friday is my "Doing things with flowers" day.
I have lots of strange rotas, that nobody understands except me. Mostly, they revolve around the day of the week and the date in the month.
Just nod and smile and pretend it all makes sense.

                        • 2018 - Alphabet - starting at P

I'm starting with P because I'm going to sow a flower a day, according to the date in the month (as I'm doing with Oddments)

Tomorrow is 16th, 16th letter is P. Am I confusing you again???

                          Back in a mo.....................
