First sunflowers popped up this morning
Will be sowing some more later today.
I start them off in pots in the greenhouse to give them a good head start. This also reduces the need for any slug pellets to protect the young seedlings if they had gone straight in the ground.

last of the milkweed seeds - 3 varieties
sanguisorba - squirrel lilac (can't get it to germinate)
mothawks wallflower
wallflower (old seed)
wallflower fire king

Campanula Pyramidalis
lychnis coronaria
lychnis chalcedonica

I'm trying Borage for the first time, and first seedling has now germinated
(Edit: Seed was self saved originally by Jonny.D, thank you.)
Borage plants have now been planted in to final positions, and hoping they will self-seed and keep coming back for years to come. Borage is such a great plant for pollinating insects, I feel it should be grown more commonly. Grew some extra plants and found new homes locally for them
Also first sunflowers starting to come in to flower this week
This morning I sowed some calendula and cornflowers in the heated prop - no idea if it'll work, but once germinated I'm hoping to overwinter them in the greenhouse.

Was about to say you should be good till end of Oct when I remembered to check location. Heated prop it is
It is a bit of trial and error but if they do make it they will be lovely strong early flowers, then sow again in spring. Also there are various perennials that can be sown now but it depends what caught your eye when seed shopping.
Edit: I am being very hopeful and sowing some biennials as some of my July/June sown stuff is a bit on the skimpy side. Multiflora sweet peas should have been August but there is always hope. Reg. sweet peas can be anytime from now and over the next several months.
Nice list NG, had to G@@gle most of them, being a flower noob.
Really, I'm just hoping to create a bed of solid wildflowers on my plot next summer for the bees, and to look nice. I'll try one of the seed mix packets, but I'd also like to top it up with some of my faves (calendula, cornflowers, cosmos). I also fancy lining my paths with calendula after seeing pics of Mr. Bones' plot.
Although later than I wanted today I have sown under glass in warmth Summer bedding Geraniums. My most favourite Summer bedding plants. I hope once again to have many planters and hanging baskets displaying this wonderful plant.
First flower sowing of the year
Petunia
Sweet pea self saved & tall mix
Cosmos brightness mix
Antirrhinums orange wonder
Aquilegia magpie
Honesty crown blend
My sweet peas are about ready to come out of the root trainers and into larger pots, once the greenhouse keeps above freezing, they will out for first part of hardening off.
