  • Need help identifying flowers!

    Hello all,

Some blue flowers with spikey leaves (some of its flowers are white) have appeared on our allotment underneath a cherry tree and try as I might, I haven't been able to find a picture on the internet that has allowed me to identify them. Funnily enough, I'd been admiring them in someone's garden recently so would like to know what they are for two reasons!

If anyone could help, I'd appreciate it - there's a picture here.

    Thanks,

    H

It's Nigella - also referred to as Love-in-a-mist.
It's a notorious self seeder, you only need to sow one packet for a lifetimes supply

Thanks very much - someone I know had suggested it might be a variety of scabious, so I'd been looking up the wrong thing completely!

        You're welcome.
There are named varieties available, in different colours, but IMO the common blue one is the best looker of them all anyway
