There is a willow further down the garden and another over a wall next to this patch. Not sure what a goat willow is (I only know pussy willow and weeping willow ). Off to Google!
Someone 'in the know' told me they were blueberry seedlings. Needless to say, I was thrilled as the leaves look almost identical and I have 3 blueberry bushes within 6 feet of them.
However...2 years on...
They are now a good 3ft tall with long spindly branches
No sign of flowers yet either.
A couple of days ago a neighbour brought over 3 x 20 cm seedlings for my plant swap , and guess what ? Yup they look identical to mine as they were last year.
What are they?....no name but she said they are shrubs have small feathery pink flowers.
I've had a look for a name and definate ID but not come up with anything yet.
I assumed it was one - there were just a few spindly stems in the winter when I moved the raspberries but, now I think about it they did look slightly different even then. I'll try to get a better picture and a closer look.
I'm not used to this plant ID thing - most of them look green and 'planty' to me - but I'm getting better!
Nicos - do you have pictures? It's interesting that yours look the same - the description your friend gave sounds pretty.
I did wonder if you had 2 different types of plant there Trixie.
One is more like mine with the rounded, blushed leaves ..and russet -ish coloured stem.
Your other one seems to have more pointy leaves and a green stem?????

They both look shrubby to me. I would dig them up and see if you actually have two plants and then put them in pots or in the ground apart and see what happens. When they are a bit bigger it may be easier to identify them.
