Roses from seed?

Been reading about growing them from seed, has anyone done this?

after keeping the seeds in the fridge 6 months and then germinating them they flower in about 6 weeks of germination?

6 weeks seems quick to me!, has anyone tried roses from seed and had flowers quickly? as all the sites on the internet say its quick....

or as a book on growing from seed here says 3 to 6 years?

I think this is more like it

Once the rose seedlings are a few inches tall then can be potted on either into 3/4 inch pots, or if you are feeling brave then can be planted directly into a prepared bed outside. From there it will take just three years to reach maturity.

I seem to recall David Austin roses saying it takes 2 or 3 years before they see flowers on all the new seedlings they've raised.

Most places I have found say perpetual flowering ones will flower first flower in 6 weeks, but climbers and ramblers will at 1 1/2 foot tall

3 years sounds more likely to me, but the first of these links is a university, another a rose breeding society

Maybe they dont flower well till 3 years?

I have found an article from someone I have heard of!, he writes a lot on citrus s well, says repeat flowering varieties 5 to 6 weeks mostly and all usually flower under a year, single flowering types can be upto 3 years
