Accidental flower combinations

I tend not to think about colours much when planting stuff. I only worry about height, spacing and shade / aspect. But every now and again, things work out really well. Look at these self-seeded sweet williams among the penstemon flowers:



Unfortunately, sometimes the coincidence isn't so happy. Just the other side of the path, more sweet williams don't do anything to enhance the candelabra primulas behind them:



Anyone else got any interesting flower combinations going on, good or bad?

I don't like it when things look too fixed, nature doesn't coordinate colours like some people do in their gardens and beds that are all one colour look a bit dull to me.

I know what you mean, it is the yellow with the pink. I have the same issue with daffodils next to a pink camelia. They just dont look right but as the camelia is approx 40 years old and a bit on the large side, I just put up with it. I wouldnt want a garden with no daffodils!

My allotment seat where I sat and ate a donar kebab yesterday lunchtime, has an interesting colour combination.
Bee balm is growing through the seat so you get a nice orangy smell whilst sitting. I have lemon balm leaves next to large purple chive flowers with yellow buttercups that I didn't weed out of the bed!
Its the buttercup weeds that tie the other two colours together!

The colours are so hot that you can warm your hands on them.
