  • camellias and coffee grinds question

Hi everyone, hope it is as nice where you are as it is here is sunny herrington...

So I bought a couple of camellias for the shaded side of my garden, I know it likes ericaceous compost (which is acidic, right?) I was wondering could I add some coffee grinds too? I usually mix grinds into my soil where ever I'm putting fruit etc as most like acidic soil, is this the same with camellias? I've got half a barrel of the stuff so amount is no problem..

Any other suggestions would be fab as Ive never grown them before and want them to bloom as good next year as they have this year.

I don't know how old they are as they are only about 20-25 inches. I know they should be twined into wire on a fence to let them grow upwards.

Yes, I'm another who adds coffee grinds to my acid soil loving plants. I've used them on blueberries, hydrangeas, pieris and camellias to no ill effect. My plants are all in tubs as its all Thames clay here and they all look healthy.

I always chucked the tea-leaves and any remaining tea from the pot under the camellia. As well as liking the tea, the leaves made a mulch which kept the moisture in.
