Leaf my roses alone !!

Something has completely stripped the leaves of one branch of a beautiful rose, all that's left are stalk spikes. What can it be ?

Some nearby french beans have also been nibbled away, and, its neighbour, beetroot leaves have been munched.

Is it the same culprit / Anyone know and what I can do ?

Mine used to be stripped by vapourer caterpillars, but they are kinda easy to spot. Have you seen anything about but dismissed? go have a good look if not

If one Rose branch has been stripped,do you think whatever it is may have started on the other branches,I'm wondering if there are sawfly larvae under any leaves? They look like tiny caterpillars & are the same colour as the leaves so hard to spot. (They liked my strawberry leaves too). It you notice holes in leaves or browning on the edges of leaves,check underneath those. Beans & beetroot maybe slugs or snails?

Not vapourer caterpillars but when I got my glasses I saw a couple of teeny weeny thin brown caterpillars on the edge of the rose leaves.

Examining further on a leaf was a greeny-yellowy tiny insect, the size of greenfly without wings, when touched it hopped into other leaves so I lost it. The only other things were random small white dots scattered around which could be eggs.
Any idea what they were and how to deal with them ?

There were no other branches stripped but the whole rose, on close inspection, is in a deplorable state - brown spots and shrivelled leaves etc - not a sign of a rose bud and by now it is usually flourishing.

I didn't see any green caterpillars but I did see two tiny thin brown ones (see my note above).

A clematis situated in the same patch, which I had previously moved because the flowers had suddenly died, after the stems had been stripped. When I planted the root in this new patch, it started to grow nicely but now it has stopped and the tiny new leaves that are forming are not looking that good.

Also not far from this patch, I had some very tall purple flowers (I'm ashamed to say I have no idea what they were - something I planted and didn't label), they were beautiful and died naturally, I think. Now the stalks are unbelievably stripped of their leaves, some stems completely and others with leaves still on the lower part and they are very large leaves. Some voracious insect is at work. My garden must be teeming with them. Even the blackcurrant bushes look as if they've been attacked as the leaves are shrivelling and going into brown clumps. No fruit in sight....

I've found some "Rose Clear" insecticide & fungicide in the shed and also some Bio Liquid Derris. Unless advised to the contrary here, and when the rain stops, I'm going to spray everything. Any suggestions are welcome...
