  • Cut flower hill, what else could I put there in for the winter?

I've got a hill at the bottom of the garden that is divided in the centre by steps that leads to a seat. On one side I've got strawberries, daffs, roses and a tree. The other side has been a dumping area for the past 5 year for all the hideous decorative stones that I have been taking out of the rest of my garden. Its over grown with weeds and I've been thinking of what to put there all year so now I have decided to put a buddliea at the back on the wall to give me some screening, some lavender (when it comes) along the sides where the steps are so when you brush past to go to the seat it will smell nice, and tulips and daffs in between the lav and the fence (its a canny area to cover) but I was wondering what can I do for the autumn/winter as I don't want it over run with weeds and have to be battling them every year, any ideas guys?

Wallflowers will be the garden centres very soon, if they aren't already. Bareroot ones are cheapest and soon perk up after planting. They flower April to Msy and smell delicious. Cyclamen would give you a bit of colour now, as would chrsanthymums.
I love your description of "hideous decorative stones". I guess once upon a time somebody liked them!

haha yeah unfortunatly it was my dad, he went mental when he seen me removing them telling me how much they cost.
Belive it or not I work in a garden center but find trouble putting flowers together for all year round flowering. Thanks for the help, the wall flowers sound like a plan
