What do I feed a hebe with?

I bought a Hebe albicans the other week and its in a pot still, what do I feed these plants with? I potted one up in john innes no 2 and that one looks like its on its way out too.
Im sure they are ever green?

Never had a problem with them and never fed them but always planted them in the ground and kept them trimmed to stop them going leggy.

If you've recently bought it and it looks like its dying, can you take it back?

If a tree looks like it's "Ill" or is struggling, it's generally not a good idea to feed them based on the advice and guidelines given in Bonsai care. It's often best to try and get the tree/shrub back to health and stable before feeding commences.

Is the Hebe getting enough light, water and air?

Is it in the correct size pot?

Is the position it's in exposed to harsh winds, dogs/cats going to the toilet on it or some other animal messing with it?

... and you don't want to be feeding anything now, at the back end of the year, because any lush green soft growth could get whacked by frost



I don't "feed" anything in the home garden, they just get chopped-up prunings of themselves, as a mulch

There is no point taking it back as I got it for £1 as it had already flowered. I have put it in a bigger pot with grit and soil. It gets about 6 houts sun..
I bought a new one so just going to see where I get with that
