Pansy & Viola home saved seed, breed true?

Hello all,
I have grown several varieties from seed this Autumn. Some were very cheap 'mixed' 60p for loads and some were expensive £2 for 6 seeds! named single colour varieties. Most grew ok and are now starting to flower though the weather this weekend will probably put a stop to it.
I understand about taking cuttings only way to true clone and seed from F1 & F2 won't grow true and probably a whole lot worse than.

My question is seed collected from the mixed will I'm sure will grow Pansy with mixed colours. If I save seed from the known single colour variety will the result be Pansy with similar single colour or will they revert to parentage as in heirloom?

Some of the expensive varieties are just a few colours(3 or 4)mixed but plain colours though very vibrant and have good traits like semi trailing or compact. Of this variety, if I save seed from the blue plant will the seed produce blue plants or any colour of the 3 or 4 variety colour?
Varietys; Chicky Chick (all the same dual/bi colour), Flower Power (only 3 colours but very nice) forgotten the rest and it's dark now so can't provide but bet I remember as soon as I post this

I would have thought that, unless you could stop the flowers being cross-pollinated, they'll all end up as mixed colours.

Ah, yes I see what you mean, never thought of that. That's pretty well knocked that idea on the head. You've probably saved me a lot of time and frustration, thank you.

Mixed colours are pretty too

Save them and sow some next Spring. You never know what kind of a result you might get. Worth a try I would say.
Thats the joy of gardening, expect the unexpected.
