I have a plant which has popped up in a pot with another plant in it so I assume it is something dropped by a bird & no doubt a weed, but I have let it grow as it is quite unusual. It has narrow, tall, stiff but seemingly hollow leaves/stems (seem to be both) which have a clump of flower heads (grass seed head type) coming straight out of the stem part way along it. Any ideas of exactly what it is. Pics. below.

I think it's a rush or a sedge -can't make it out very well from pic.Whoever plants a garden believes in the future.

I agree with Flum - some kind of rush or sedge - it's a pretty one! Mine has boring brown flower thingies!

It is growing in a pot next to the pond so maybe you could all be right. Think I'll keep it as it is pretty, just worried in case it self-seeds everywhere.Into every life a little rain must fall.Comment
