  • Planting out herbaceous perennials

Last year I bought a job lot of plug plants which I potted up and have over wintered in the cold frame. I have had the lid half open all winter and fully open for the last 2weeks. Can I plant them out now or should I harden them off outside the cold frame first. Thanks in anticipation ( gosh that sounds formal)

Unless your ground I s frozen or flooded I think they could go straight out now.

Thanks. They will be going into raised beds so not flooded. No frost this morning so not frozen. I was going to pot them on otherwise or at least try to feed them but this way I have the whole job done. Thanks fir that

If they're half hardy perennials I wouldn't be planting them out now as a night frost would kill them. I'd wait until mid April for those. The ground is still very cold at the moment so with fully hardy perennials again wait until mid April intil it starts to warm up a bit. Meanwhile I'd harden them off.
