Asda has got some canny deals on, i got 3 lavenders for £5 which I think is brilliant!
Or you could get one of those mixed perennials containers that you could scatter till you plant it up with what you want
If you want to view paradise
Simply look around and view it.

I'd be tempted to put something edible in, even if it's only left for the birds. Soft fruit cuttings etc.
Posted on an iPad so apologies for any randomly auto-corrected gobbledegook

Not messy....NATURAL dear Tho' I must admit I'm just as bad Last year's summer bed of flowers was a lovely colourful higgledy-piggledy which the insects loved but silly me didn't think about heights and some things got swamped! This year I'm constantly reminding myself about tall things at back and short 'uns at the front!

I think that is a GORGEOUS border VC - I'd be planting it with lots of insect/wildlife-friendly blooms
If I'm not on the Grapevine I can usually be found here!....https://www.thecomfreypatch.co.uk/

Something like a clematis Montana would cover the fence? Marigold seeds are easy to grow in plastic cups & they flower til oct or maybe November if it's mild. Lovely big space!

I'd be tempted to scatter lots of wildflower seeds and see what happens!

A friend of mine has a huge garden, about 1/2 acre of it has been sown with wild flowers and has wide mown paths sweeping though it, it's a stunning place to wander through in the summer, and of course attracts lots of pollinators.

Have you t hought of using wild flower seeds as you said you didnt want to lay out a lot of expense.
You could sow, poppies "different types" Love in a mist, clifornia poppy. Aqualegia
a,nd cosmos, and lupins. Can you imagine the blazexof colour.

And your hands begin to harden.
You will find yourself a partner,

i would scatter some nasturtium, pot marigolds and pansy seeds all along the area, and then put in any other plants that took my fancy if I got them cheap (free) or simply scatter any flower seeds that you have avaliable. They may not come up but, nothing ventured nothing gained.
it may be a struggle to reach the top, but once your over the hill your problems start.

                              Thank you everyone
I have lots, and I mean LOTS of flower seeds which will be scattered hither and thither. Also, I've sown 96 modules with flower seeds beginning with the letters A-E.
Today, I cleared a path through the widest part of the border to make it easier to manage.
                              Before and After

All the foxgloves, forgetmenots, periwinkle and feverfew that were on the path have been moved and replanted. I didn't replant the brambles and nettles though
