dahlia seeds germination.

Every year I collect, and sow my Dahlia seeds from one year to the next with no problems.This year has been no exception with my seeds now turning into sturdy plants.
I took a couple of seed heads from someone elses garden, brought them homel dried and stored thrm the same as always but despite my best efforts they wont germinate.
I have sowed them twice, soaked thrm in water and have a few in a plastic bag with a wet tissue but no luck.
Anybody got an answer ad I can't find any info about this.

My dahlia seed packet says to place in the warmth 15-20 degrees celcius & keep moist,I haven't grown them before but are they warm enough?

Thanks Jane. Yes, I started them in the heated propagator but no Joy.

I thought perhaps they may have been an F1 variety and just didn't germinate as a result but can't find any f1 dahlias. Just unlucky maybe?

Scarlet, I hve tried everything and tried everywhere for information on why they wont germinate but cant find a reason.

I was going to suggest chitting them on kitchen paper, but it sounds like you've tried that. Did the seeds ripen on the plant? Just wondering if they had developed properly. As you've collected and grown before, you'd know what you were looking for. So frustrating.
