I had a potter round my garden today, it is a mid terrace small garden but one that has a small tightly space vegetable patch which currently has spuds, 2 rows of broad beans, peas, salad leaves and kale. After 3 years growing vegetables I felt the garden was full of optimism rather than trepidation and I felt the most confident today just getting on with things, I am a compulsive planner and admit that I plan probably a little overly and probably too much without letting nature do its own thing. This year having got the experience and knowing what happens it is starting to become a really relaxed affair now.
But I did start to think about colour, I started to think about having some pots of flowers - nothing like a proper flower bed as this is a garden which depends on vegetables more than anything. I am after some colour, like I say a few pots of flowers here and there to brighten the garden up, maybe some ferns in the shady area or some cottage garden flowers which can sit happily in a pot and brighten the place up a bit. What would your recommendations be for this ?
My garden has a lot of shade, the sunshine area is starting to fill up with vegetables, space is at a premium. I am not keen on pansies or rose bushes but do love the scent of a climbing rose that is delicate. I don't want just odd plants sat in pots looking odd but would prefer a natural look.
Any ideas ? ?
