  • Whats wrong with my calathea, white star? Any ideas?

Anyone got any ideas? there is a white chalky substance on the bottom of the leaves. I dont think its powdery mildew but not certain.
In the end of the leaves look like they are burnt and there is some of the leaves that look like there has been something eating it.

Should I chop back the affected leaves/stems give it a good feed or do you think its something else than a disease?

    thanks guys

If the ends of the leaves are going crisp and brown, that's usually because the air is too dry. A lot of tropical leafed plants like high humidity around them, difficult to achieve in centrally heated houses. And they like to be watered little and often, rather than a good soak once a week as with temperate plants. Could you perhaps stand the pot on a tray of gravel that can be kept wet, so that the bottom of the pot is not touching water, but the wet gravel will make the air humid around the leaves.

    Endless wonder.
