  • Gardenia

I've just been given a gardenia . I've had a quick gooooogle because I know nothing about them. Apparently they like acidic soil, well I have lots of that but would it be happy planted in a flower boarder in the frozen north?
It's very nice but I don't really have space for it as a house plant. It's definitely not going in my tunnels
    All thoughts, suggestions welcome.

The gardenia is a tropical lady and will turn up her toes outside unless it's 20C in the day and 16C at night. It likes high humidity but hates water on its leaves, and an acid soil but rich with it.

    Deffo a house plant.

On the rare occasions I've been given one, I treat it like a bunch of flowers - keep it till it's finished flowering, then sit it outside and let it take its chances, then when it's dead I compost it

IMO they need too much faffing with to keep unless you have a conservatory.
