I have lots of SP seeds too so nothing to lose by trying.
We only had a couple of light frosts last winter. If I can get a few flowers before January I'll be very happy
A bit lateral but you could try perrennial varieties, but they won't flower until the second season ?, old fashioned/Spenser varieties kept undercover & positioned to get maximum length of winter daylight may produce a bloom for Christmad/New Beer

I have a few pots with canes, dotted around the garden, including one outside the patio door. So fragrant - lovely. They're looking a bit tired now though so it would be good to replace them with some fresh ones and keep the perfume going into winter.
