Well I'm really, really pleased with them, they seemed like they were never going to flower ~ then they reward me (and the bees..!! ) with a marvellous display.
The reason they look like they are straining to follow me is actually, they are rather 'on the p**s' from the aftermath of the strong winds and rain a few weeks back ......
They must have some mighty fine roots to keep them planted after the battering they took...!

Ive just took the last sunflower down yesterday but the suckers that pop out of the leaf stalks had flowers on the sucker of the suckers of the suckers lol so plenty of flowers on. Wish i had taken a photo before i chopped it down now.

Indeed but the other half is getting some paper envelopes and share them out and give to primary school so the kids will have seeds to grow next year, only 200 ish kids in school.
Best of luck! Birds dropped seeds ,so I've even got sunflowers in full Bloom on thé gravel along thé hedge. It's Nice to have an'Indian Summer' for how long..? Spiders investissement m'y house,the hedehog aventures on thé terrasse and starlings begin to gagner on poplars.. Take heart.
Well that was the plan and how i grew them with my son as the school started off with a competition to grow the biggest and were going to be hosted at the local social club but it closed down a month before everyones plants were to be judged along with sunflowers
