Isn't it odd how you can forget what's outside you back door? or is it just me!

Salvia elegans/Pineapple sage. Just starting to flower in November The leaves have a hint of pineapple as you brush against them and the flowers are vivid. Easy to root from cuttings too, which is why I already have it in 3 places!

I'm going through my flower seeds and found 2 perennial Sunflowers - Laetiflorus (8') and Maximiliani (5-8').
Has anyone grown these please? I've read that they may be invasive.

I've not grown them myself but I've lusted after laetiflorus in other people's gardens but never knew where to get it. I was going to suggest it then saw your comment. I don't think it's rampantly invasive but that's on heavy clay and it might be worse on lighter soils.

One year I grew tall nicotianas and cleome in my front garden and had no end of passers by commenting on them. Cleome start smaller than you need but stretch up as summer goes on.

Presumably you've already got hollyhocks on the list? Oh, yes you have, but it's one of my favourites so I won't delete it.
Aconitum / monkshood? Can't remember whether it's carmichaelii or the other one that grows tall.
Scotch thistles / onopordum? Biennials but can be huge in the second year.
Cardoons?

Mine came from T&M Sunflower x laetiflorus - Perennial & Biennial Seeds - Thompson & Morgan
I'm pulling out "tall" seeds as I come across them so I'll look for your other suggestions too!

Thanks for the link. They look semi-double, though, and I like the simple single flowered ones. Anyway, there's nowhere in my current garden that I could fit them.

Don't know what your soil's like but if it's light enough you could grow eremurus / foxtail lily. Not sure how long it would take from seed.

Bumping this thread as I've just acquired some seeds of https://www.edulis.co.uk/products/me...inum-decipiens - Madeira Giant Black Parsley - grows to 2m.
Also, 2 baby Echium pinninana plants which should be grow even taller.
