Potted spring bulbs coming out early

Hi everyone!

I need you advice / opinion.

I've planted many spring bulbs towards the end of October - all in pots, as I only have a patio - all kinds of tulips, daffodils, lilies, hyacinth, crocus etc.
I've noticed some of the crocuses and daffodils started to come out a week ago or so, and others seem to join them.
I'm in London and it's been rather warm until now, so I suppose that could be the reason. I've noticed one of my neighbours also has hers starting to come out.

This is my first year in UK/London and I'm not familiar with the winter weather more than common knowledge, especially in terms of gardening. It's clear winters are warmer than in other parts of the country. I've never planted bulbs in the autumn, I only bought them in the spring up til now, so my experience is limited in this matter as well.

Is the fact that they started to come out early going to be a problem? Could frost potentially damage them later on?
Is there anything I should/could do about it?

Any advice is much appreciated, I've searched the matter online but didn't find much on it.

Hi raluca, when you say they are coming out I assume you mean green shoots are showing above the compost? If so it's not a problem, they do this. They will slow down now it's gone all cold, and speed up again in early spring when it starts to warm up a bit.

I'm always pleased to see the shoots, it means spring is round the corner!

As Martin says perfectly normal. As you're in London your winters will be quite a bit warmer thanks to being in the south and cities being heat islands.

None of mine have started poking their heads up, but we're on a rural, windy area even though we're further south, so quite a bit colder in winter I should think.

Yes, they started to send up shoots, sorry for the poor choice of words, I clearly need to improve my gardening vocabulary .
Thank you both for your answers, I was a bit worried.
I planted so many of them and I can't wait for the spring and all the colour myself.

Now I only have to worry about the squirrels digging them up.
I'm kidding, we are already friends, and though they tend to hide all kind of nuts that I feed them in my pots, I secured the spring bulb pots with mesh.

Ah, I misunderstood, thought you meant the flowers had come out which would be strange. Shoots are normal though, I'm way north of you and mine are too.

Sure your pots will look great in the spring - so good just waiting & all of a sudden they burst open & you know winter has ended. Until then snuggle down...
