Are these dahlias in blossom today Johnny D ?

And when your back stops aching,
And your hands begin to harden.
You will find yourself a partner,
In the glory of the garden.

Yes Bramble, these are from plants I dug up and overwintered in the garage.

The others I've grown from seed this year all have buds on and 1 is just about to open up.

        Well done.
        Lovely early crop of flowers.
Mine are a fair bit behind yours but looking healthy all the same.

This color on this one has changed this year and I'm wondering if it because it was replanted in a place that gets more sun than last year, any ideas as to why the color change might have happened?

          TIA

This link has an explanation about dahlia flower variation that might help, part of it says -
“Dahlias (Dahlia variabilis) exhibit a wide range of flower colours because of accumulation of anthocyanin and other flavonoids in their ray florets.”
& further on in the text -
“Flower colour variegation is often caused by recurrent excision of transposable elements in a pigment biosynthesis gene.”

              They are lovely Jonny!

I’ve just one dahlia in flower at the moment - I planted loads out but I’ve had a serious slug problem.

Thelma, I bought some labyrinth this year......I’m hoping I will see a few blooms.

Sadly, because it was surrounded by other plant roots, I decided to leave the Labyrinth in over winter, although it was heavily mulched it didn't make it I will buy another for next year though! Hope you like it as much as I did

Mine are slow this year because of the snow I think,I thought I’d lost them but then they appeared, there’s no flowers yet, here they are today & I just found a photo from last year 21st June, you can see the yellow & pink flowers amongst the bamboo sticks & the height difference-

I’ve lost the lovely orange one that I always have great success with, and my new ones are getting hammered by the slugs.
