Problem with my french marigold

Hi!
Good morning.
I woke up to a problem in my garden today. My french marigold plant leaves are turning into a shiny dark color (purplish-grey).
I put them out last week, after they had been growing inside my house on a sunny window sill since 1st march. I am travelling for 2 weeks, so i put them out in the bed, so that they don't die from lack of water, but this?!
Please help!

French marigolds are a half hardy annual and will blacken with frost.

I live in Peterborough. I know i did put them out earlier than I wanted to. So should i just leave them be? Can i help anything to prevent this to happening to other marigolds?

Keep some fleece ready in case frost is forecast.

looking at your photo I would say that they have been chilled, I dont know what the weather is like in Peterborough but possibly you have put them out too soon, but as they are out cover with fleece or similar every night till the night temperatures are warmer
