  • Lychnis chalcedonica

I planted late last August a young Lychnis chalcedonica plant. I have recently noticed that the plant has only produced one single stem. The stem is now around 18" high with flower buds appearing. Is it normal for this plant to have a single stem in its early years? If not, should I pinch out the top to encourage growth from below?

    Best regards,
    Greg

For a bushier, more compact appearance with increased blooms, pinch back stems in spring. Deadheading will encourage a second round of flowers.
