Perennial flowers for a dry, sunny bank

Hello! I have been gardening for years, but stuck to veg. I'm finally branching out into flowers (I know, I have been missing out!). I have a very overgrown bed which is rather dry as it is in an area over the road from my house and it does get a little neglected as the hose doesn't reach (I have a lot of watering to do). What are some pretty plants that acn cope with a bit of dryness, especially ones that give good ground cover. I particularly like bright colours such as blues, oranges and white. I have a bit of an aversion to pink and yellow . Thank you!

How about Mediterranean type herbs.

I did think ice plant sedum but I have only ever known them in shades of pink. White valerian or white silene will cope but likely to seed everywhere given a chance. Achillea is worth a bash. Most of the milkweeds are meant to be drought tolerant but quite a few are actually tender. Sea hollies are a nice flowery alternative. Welsh poppy and there are probably some salvias that fit the bill.

I scattered a tub of mixed flower seeds at the base of a wall last year. I don't water outdoor plants once they're planted - they have to fend for themselves!



All easy growers, bright and should selfseed.

There are a few bought plants in there - osteospermum and some salvias and lavenders that will come on later.

I've got one very dry patch which I never bother to water - have always found that daisy-type flowers flourish there (ox-eye daisy and the more shrubby marguerites, as well as the osteospermum similar to VCs photo). Also, if want some height you could consider comfrey, which is a virtually indestructible perennial, or borage, which will self seed.
If it's really dry and sunny I'd also throw some eschscholzia seeds near the front - they're only annuals but will happily self seed in those conditions.

A dry sunny bank is one of my longed for desires, as I adore bearded iris and that is the perfect place for them.



Alas, I am stuck with a damp shady garden (sigh)

Thrives in dry conditions, flowers all summer, self seeds year after year - and you like bright colours - go for a cloth of yellow, gold and orange - California Golden poppy. And if it was me I'd have cornflowers providing a wonderful contrast of vivid blue with the oranges. The cornflowers would cope with neglect as well and self seed.
