Tulip seed pods

Hi All,

I've grown some tulips for the first time this year, and now I've got big seed pods drying out where the flowers were. I know the bulbs are supposed to come back year after year, so what do I do with the seed pods? Any point in keeping them, or shall I just chuck them in the compost bin?

Gosh-I've no idea, but would have thought if you had nipped off the dead flower then more energy would have gone into the bulb?

The seed should grow...are they an unusual variety?

Can't really remember, some I picked up in Amsterdam airport, and some were from a T$M Spring bulb special offer. Guess I should save them and grow them, or at least leave the seeds to do their thing where they fall. I know I should deadhead, but I'm lazy when it comes to flowers!

The thing with seeds(so I'm told no personal experience here), with cross pollination, you could get a new sub variety, so worth either leaving on(something I don't do) or try in a pot of compost(I've not tried that either lol). Good at giving advice when often not applying it to myself.........................
