Living up to it's name, good numbers of Red Admiral, very few Tortoiseshells no Painted Ladies and very few Cabbage Whites(am I really hoping for a local population crash of the latter? Norty me)

You could with permission try deadheading someone's bush & spread the seeds on your plot? I've had mine for over 15 years it's never spread anywhere in my garden I don't feel like its a weed but I have seen them on train tracks growing like weeds,I wonder if mine hasn't spread because of the deadheading & cutting back every year?Location : Essex

Hardwood cuttings strike very easily.
If you can wait till September/October the bushes should be reduced to prevent wind damage. This'll produce loads of cuttings.
You should make a note of any choice bushes now whilst still in flower. There's loads of good cultivars, far better than the bomb site self sown ones. If you can find it try Buddleja x weyeriana 'Sungold'. It's yellow and has longer flowering period.Riddlesdown (S Croydon)
