  • Remembrance flower marker help

    Hi all,

I know very little about flowers so im desperate for some help here.

We lost our mam/mil back in October and my fil is close now to a decision about her ashes.

Its looking like their going in his front garden so were thinking about putting something on top.Not too big, i was thinking about a dwarf rose but would really appreciate any other ideas.
something that would ideally flower around april ( her birthday) but thats not a dealbreaker, but something that flowers every year ( perrenial ?) and dwarf size, probably about 3 foot high tops, thanks all in advance

For reliability I guess bulbs like Tulips, maybe planted around a Rose?

Rosa Sweet Memories- is a lovely floribunda patio rose, bearing masses of small lemon-yellow flowers in summer, set off by glossy dark green leaves. A neat, compact plant with good disease resistance, ideal for a container. Height and spread 60cm x 60cm (2ft x 2ft).
Thrives in rich, well-drained soil in a sunny site, sheltered from strong winds.

This could be underplanted with a Rose maybe also beautifully scented

        Hi Jack

Am in the same agreance with both Bernie and BHF in that a rose, which is a pretty iconic symbol for us "Typical British"

Buy rose Peace (hybrid tea) Rosa 'Peace ('Madame A. Meilland')': Delivery by Crocus

Repeat flowering, so lots of interest through the year, not so much a miniature but an "Hybrid Tea" which are easily kept in check.

        Then underplant with "Tulip Peace"

Which will flower when you want it to, and as of late with our ever changing climate, and have witnessed it this last few years, if you do get an early flush from the rose, the colours would compliment each other perfectly!

          hi all,

We went for a gorgeous blood red rose called" Eternity", marketed as ideal for pots so exactly what we were looking for. Love the idea of the tulips si if we can incorporate that somehow it would be good.

          thanks again for your thoughts

Really good choice, you could under plant with poppies too - there are some beautiful poppies out there and you can leave them to self seed
