I'm looking around for plants which we can give to our parents in the near future and thought about plants with our new daughters name. She's called Harriet and so far I've found a dahlia which although lovely may be a little tender for these parts. Any other suggestions greatly received.

The RHS plant finder comes up with 16 possibilities, including two dahlias. One of them might be the one you found already. https://www.rhs.org.uk/Plants/Search...?query=Harriet
I think dahlias are only half hardy in most parts of Britain. They should do fine in Lancaster as long as they don't forget to dig up the tubers and store them somewhere frost-free over winter. I inherited some dahlias from the previous owner of my house, but one winter I forgot to dig them up, and that was the end of themLast edited by Zelenina; 02-12-2017, 03:47 PM.
