Echinacea?

Last summer I purchased a small echinacea plant, and potted it out in my garden. It never actually flowered, although the leaves were growing well and gaining good size, despite slug attacks.

Obviously it has died off over winter, my question is, will it grow back this year?

It should do as it's a perennial.

My concern is that is wasn't that great last year, so I'm not holding out hope for it. I do have a packet of seeds, so will start some off in the propagator.

At least then if it doesn't come back, I won't miss out on the flowers. If it does return then its a Bonus.

I think they don't like clay soil.All the ones I've planted died quickly. Even rubeckias didn't last long.
Yet in my late mother's sandy soil in Worthing rubeckias grew like weeds.

The ones I grew from seed did not flower the first year and looked a bit sad, they flowered the 2nd year and have been coming back each year.

I've noticed the White Swan variety take a bit longer than the purple ones to get going.
