Calendula and nasturtiums, Poached eggs/limnanthes - all beneficial on a veg plot.

Why not get a packet of mixed cottage garden annuals ? - gives you a wide range of plants and any you like you can save the seed from.

Cornflowers have a beautiful blue colour,I think they self seed? Mexican marigolds are taller than French you can get some nice big flower heads on them, all marigolds are good everywhere. Dwarf sunflowers, geraniums or lavender from seed?

companion wise - nicandra - shoo-flyplant (for white fly on brassicas), French/African/pot marigolds (bright, easy and attract beneficial insects), variegated nasturtium (amongst brassicas to help deal with cabbage white), let herbs flower (especially chives amongst root veg)

If you are after hero type plot flowers (that 'will' get noticed) - dahlia, rose, chrysanth and sweet pea.

Annual poppies (Papaver somniferum) don't take up much ground space, grow to about 2 feet, attract pollinators and are very easy to pull out at the end of the year. They love disturbed soil and self seed happily. And you can use the seeds in baking.

Limnanthes have done incredibly well for me under fruit bushes. They also grow in the bark mulch outside the beds. They are a delight, cheerful and early and self seed prolifically every year. The bees are very keen on these little flowers. Maybe not the best if you are very tidy as they spring up in every crack on your paths.

Nasturtium and Camomile are the best option

I think you can think about Nasturtium and Camomile because Nasturtiums also offer some protection from squash bugs and beetles and Camomile fits in anywhere in the open ground.

You can also think about Clover,Sweet Pea,Zinnia and Cosmos.
