  • Weigela.

Does anybody on here grow Weigela.
If so, can you recommend a variety.
I want to grow it in a large container.

I have 2 but don't know their variety as I've grown them from cuttings.
My favourite one has variegated leaves so its interesting for most of the year. The flowers are pink.
The other one has dark pink/red flowers and plain green leaves - not as pretty as the other one IMO.

Same as VC....I don’t know the varieties I have! I’ve slso got a variegated variety with pink flowers, that’s the one I would choose.

It also sounds like the Variegated one is the favourite!!
I knew my red flowered one as "Ruby" summat so possible Bristol Ruby.

They're easy to grow from cuttings.

Another vote here for cuttings from a variegated. Took them from my Mothers garden last year and they struck easily.

I have a pic of the foliage but not the flower. I think it was a dark pink.

                Thanks all for your help.
Looks like a vote for the variegated one.
I will have a look in the garden centre.

I also got 'purpurea' the other week, but I like dark flowers and foliage.

Anyone know if it is bad to let them flower when young?

                    Like the Purpurea. Nice contrast.
I've just cut the top of one variegated one - it was too tall with an ivy covered trunk. Hopefully, all the new growth at the base will take over.
