  • Flowering Shrubs

    Hello,
I'm looking for some suggestions of flowering shrubs. i have a border i wish to plant up with some flowering shrubs.

1=border is in a south facing garden (gets full sun)
2= i don't know much about my soil type(so must do well in all soil types)
3= easy to maintain & easy to grow
4= have a flowering period spring or summer
5= Im in Aberdeen Scotland so suitable of our climate

i was easier on today looking to invest in a shrub called Erysimum Bowles Mauve.
is anyone on here growing it and if so what do you think of it?

    Regards
    Steve.

Erysimum is wallflower. Where have you seen it described as shrub? Hopefully someone who grows it can shed some light.

How big do you want these shrubs to get?
Ones that spring to mind are variegated weigela https://www.growfruitandveg.co.uk/gr...ela_95908.html , Himalayan honeysuckle (but it can be invasive in some gardens), fushia (such as genii)

Always worth going for something with scent as well as flowers I thing.

      rough order of flowering :-

      wintersweet
      Forsythia
species azalea - Exeter types are good, best on acid soil
      lilac - double white
      philadelphus - dwarf if possible
      roses, of course :-)
      viburnum bodnantensis

those off the top of my head - could probably add another dozen, if I thought a bit longer.
