Anyone bought any wilc0 dahlias this year?

Just wondered if anyone has had any wilc0 dahlias this year. I have 10 tubers and they appear to be lifeless....all of them. I could understand the odd one but all I also have 10 from another supplier in the same place, arrived at a similar time with lovely fleshy shoots on. Just curious if there is something weird going on. I have had their dahlias in the past with no problems.

Feel quite bummed now. I was looking forward to stupid amounts of dahlias as I finally gave in and went proper tuber shopping

I bought 10 from a different supplier and except for 1, they all sprouted quickly. Because I feared the worst, I had a closer look yesterday and it is growing - lots of roots and just tiny specks of green shoots very low down on the stem, whereas some of the others are already 4 or 5ins tall.

So I wouldn't give up hope just yet! Fingers crossed for yours.

I bought a few from W as well. I've never grown them from tubers before, so I don't know what to expect. I'll keep an eye on them with fingers crossed.

I'm in just the same boat... only I was naughty and succumbed to the temptation of buying a S@rah R@ven collection. Only one has sprouted. I've never grown them before, but really wanted to grow flowers for cutting this year... followed the instructions to the letter. :/ I'll give it another couple of weeks, then investigate, then complain like billy-oh if nothing's showing.

I have not bought from SR as it seems expensive and have seen quite a few disappointing reviews. My others came from Peter Nyssen on Scarlets mention and I will definitely be using them again

You can find the same varieties listed on the SR site from Peter Nyssen at half the price....just the SR has better photography!

Exactly what I found, the SR catalogue is very beautiful/tempting, but I look at it now, just to see from her pics which varieties/plants go well together in a vase or in the border

Okay, okay, don't rub it in. I know I was suckered.... LOL. Is it too late to buy dahlia tubers now? Should I just look for plants?

Actually, I lay in bed this morning with the 4yo and the latest SR catalogue, snuggling and looking at the flowers... he always asks for them to keep when I'm finished. His speech is a bit delayed, so we had fun talking about the lovely names plants have.

"Finny-num. Mummy-knee. Pretty."
"The dahlias? Yes, they're very pretty, aren't they? I'm growing some of those this year."

"Yes, love, eventually. They're in the growhouse right now."
"Mine now?"
"Yes, your magazine now." And here, have my heart while you're at it... ;-)

I'll make a plantsman of him yet.

It was an utterly delicious ten minutes.

But I'll remember to shop elsewhere once inspired by SR in future! (Mind you, I got 100% germination on the sweet pea seeds, so it's not all bad).

I finally took the last of my W tubers out of the utility room to put them in a pot. Of course, the one that had been stored the longest is the only one with a visible shoot :P

Lovely to hear you had some quality time, it is to easy to get caught up and miss out.

As for the dahlias it is getting a bit late for tubers so you are more likely to be on to rooted cuttings and plants. I am due some rooted cuttings from the national collection. First time using them, but have only heard good things. https://nationaldahliacollection.co....g-your-dahlia/

Just checked mine - 3 more just peeking through - I think you may be a bit impatient NG , give them a bit more time.

NG I have just over half sprouted now if that is any consolation. I bought 3 from SR this year and 1 is resolutely doing nothing for now. I bought 2 Eveline2s from Suttons in Feb last year and they didn't sprout till well into May.

In terms of SR - I had 1 rubbish tuber from them last year, all fallen apart and rotten in the bag. When I called I had a fat replacement by return post, no quibbles, so I am a fan.

I found their customer service terrible. I bought some lily bulbs that arrived mildewed, they had no more available so said they would refund my money I had to ring twice more before they finally did

As for the dahlias it is getting a bit late for tubers so you are more likely to be on to rooted cuttings and plants.

Sorry NF I must disagree with you about it being a bit late as I have just set up my dahlia tubes last week and though they are throwing shoots they will not be planted out till June, hopefully the second week, but really I could have waited a couple of weeks yet before setting them up if you buy tubers now I reckon they will catch up by June/July.
