I have been given 2 cuttings which i was told were passion flowers but the leaves seem more ipomea and as cuttings seem vigourous. Now a flower has opened and it isnt what i would call a passion flower.

Anyone help?

Doesn't look like a passionflower - looks more like bindweed.

99% certain that's Bindweed - or as I call it, "Granny pop out of your nightdress".
If you squeeze the green bit, just behind the petals and say "Granny pop out of your nightdress". she will. Granny has no shame.

On the bright side - they're very healthy cuttings.
Having seen your post, CG, I've been out popping my own Grannies and pulling up their boots and sending them on the long walk into the gardenwaste bin.

Last year I was given 2 'oregano' plants by someone who happens to be a plant pathologist at a university and has written many papers on plant diseases... I only found out this year that he gave me a combination of speedwell and creeping jenny. No wonder the leaves had no taste or smell! Oh well, they've been dug out of the herb bed and put in the flower border.

We were evidently brought up more demure. We call them "Grandma pop out of bed"

I don't think I'd be accepting any more cuttings from the same source......maybe someone jealous of your lovely garden?!!!
