      • This dahlia is one of two dahlia varieties I have growing together in a bed. The open centre of the flowers means this dahlia is bee friendly, rich in accessible nectar. A beautiful crimson - this variety is called ‘Apache’.

          • The second dahlia in this bed is a white one called ‘Tutu’. Again like the red one [Apache] it has an open centre accessible to bees and butterflies.

I haven’t noticed the bees taking much notice of the Penstemons.

This is quite a plain dahlia but always a great hit for the bees and butterflies so it is quite welcome in the garden. I have no idea the name of this variety.

Yes, I can see them Is there a prize?

My flower is Montbretia with whom I have a love hate relationship. Lovely in small clumps but not taking over the garden. I'm ruthless with them now - if they're in the wrong place I pull them out and throw the corms in the council waste bin.
