    • My Flower is a bit of a weed that is often pulled up and chucked. Does it deserve such ill treatment? If I'd grown it from seed, admired its delicate flowers and the way its leaves turn red, I'd probably like it.
Giving it its proper name of Geranium Robertianum also makes it less of a a "weed". It is said to absorb radiation from the soil and disperse it - also that it makes a herb tea (although not sure I fancy that if its full of radiation)

Enough of the chat, its Herb Robert.

      • I recognise that ‘weed’ as it pops up in my garden. Didn’t know it’s name or anything about it so thanks for the info Veggie. It has quite nice foliage too and fortunately quite easy to uproot.

Not the best of photos but had to get it quick before the rain started, and it is now cold and wet
it may be a struggle to reach the top, but once your over the hill your problems start.

Look at that, you have to be careful with it or it will spread

                  They love it!!

My flower is a Fuchsia. It was in the garden when I moved here 35 years ago and has been hacked and ill treated ever since and still it bounces back. Its a real toughie and I like it.
I call it Mrs Popple but she may be an impostor.

                    • Scrounge a cutting from a neighbour. Roots easily in water. (mint, not the neighbour).

                      • Having googled it I’ve read water mint is particularly good for pollinators. So I need to specifically get those seeds or plant. My plan is to bury an old cast iron round and large pot I have which has no drainage holes. I will fill this with compost/soil and grow the water mint there. Firstly the mint will be contained and secondly I can keep it waterlogged. That’s my plan??? See what you have started rary?

I think VC will have one of those cast iron pots, she calls it a cauldron, and I think she still uses it for brewing potions and lotions

                            • A cheerful rose and it appears it’s going to continue flowering till Jack Frost comes knocking at the door. No idea the name of this variety as it grew from a cutting I took last year. I was visiting an old friend in London, took the cutting from her garden, wrapped it in wet kitchen roll and put it in my suitcase. Several hours later it was on the plane back home, was unpacked and put into compost and became the rose you now see today.
