        • On my hols now - so no flowers for a while. Hoping there will still be a few left in the garden when I get home!
Don't suppose it's allowed to post flowers I haven't grown myself!

          • Another one on holidays!! Are you with Cheops and rary?

If you want to post a holiday flower please do. Otherwise, it'll be just Roitelet and me talking to each other.

My Flower is Verbena Bonariensis. Love this - as do the goldfinches who come for the seeds in winter. Flocks of them, 20-30 at a time, hanging from the seedheads which are so close I can watch them from the kitchen window.

              • I'm cheating - this is a "holiday flower".
Not sure what it is , but I'm sure I've occasionally seen it in B&Q.
                Mandevilla possibly?
Anyway, very pretty pink and lovely glossy green leaves.
Couldn't be faffed with growing it myself. Would obviously need far too much tlc Click image for larger version

                    • Another holiday flower.
This lovely purple one is very petunia like - and is called Ruellia.
There is a story that a Sultan was banished and had to go on a long journey. He was worried that he wouldn't find his way home so he sprinkled Ruellia seeds all the way to mark his path. Sadly he never returned to his country, but his grand daughter eventually found the path of purple Ruellia and could return.
Nice story and nice flower!Click image for larger version

The reason Cheops and Rary are on their holidays (they are not with me!!!) is that they probably can't bear to leave their gardens in the peak growing/maintenance season. Ever felt that you were a slave to the garden!!
It's just lovely to hang up the shears, secateurs, watering can and hoe to get away to see other flowers still growing.

it may be a struggle to reach the top, but once your over the hill your problems start.

Aren't all the drinks free with Saga holidays?

But I digress, here's my Flower, bit of a weed really, Oxalis corniculata, which I must get rid of before it seeds everywhere.
