At least you'll never run out! I can't think of any true mints I've had then lost, as you can always root them in water, of course.

Just thought of one - ginger mint. Don't know whatever happened to that.

I've only had curly mint from that group. Think it's just a curly spearmint. Come to think of it, I believe all mints are just variants of spearmint too.

Actually, I have had swiss mint. It's a very pure scented peppermint IIRC.

I'm hoping to grow them on enough to take cuttings to share - as I'm indebted to Small Pumpkin for most of mine.
There's a thread for swapping cuttings at https://www.growfruitandveg.co.uk/gr...9-a_97122.html

If I can grow them, you're having them, whether you want them or not.

I'd like to quote a comment from another thread.
                You evil temptress

Thank you VC, you're very kind and generous

Just how much of a bully *is* mint anyway? I’ve only ever grown it in pots, but now I have more space and want a big-ish patch to make lots to dry for tea.
Should I try to find something to contain it, or will cutting it back regularly keep it in check?

Even if you keep it in a pot but put in the ground it will still grow really big. Just reigns it in a bit. Personally I would keep in a pot even if you pot out.

Mines in a very big pot, had it for years now. Gave up trying it in the garden, died every time
                      Wouldn’t believe it would you?

I have enough trouble with Lemon Balm spreading through the garden, my Mint is staying in its 2 pots in the greenhouse (I have had it for years and haven't got a clue what it is(very, very difficult to kill though, even no water for 1 year it survived with ease)).
Some peeps do, or want to, let it free range, nutters, every one of them.
Feed the soil, not the plants.
                        (helps if you have cluckies)

I have both free range lemon balm and mint the lemon balm is much more established (read here it’s everywhere!)
I do love crushing the leaves and smelling them!

                              Me too Chrissy.
I wander around the garden, rubbing and sniffing leaves of anything that sniffable!
One of my aims is to have a scented path, edged with fragrant plants, so that I can indulge myself.
