haha if I had that many mints, it would fill my whole back garden! Maybe I'll make my front garden my mint haven. It can get really hot and dry in my front garden - how would mint like that?

I've had Ginger, Eau de Cologne, Banana, Apple, Garden and Red from that list.

Ginger is one of my favourites, as is Banana Mint, but the latter is very tender.

Sorry about the confusion - I'll get back in my coop now.
Sorry - everyone - I think its Basil mint, 'cos it looks like the one I've bought.
I'm so confused now that I don[t know what I've sent to you all - Skopelos or Basil.

You'll have to tell me if the one I sent you smells of Basil then.

Basil mint doesn't tend to smell that much of basil, as a rule. IMHO, the only mint that smells like its name is banana mint.

I got some Thai Mint and some Japanese Mint over the weekend, both variants of Mentha Arvensis.

                  Couldn't resist ones I haven't had before!

I've just bought a Variegated Applemint - which turns out to be also known as Pineapple Mint and Variegated Round leaved mint. https://www.rhs.org.uk/Plants/92744/...ta-(v)/Details

Drat! I thought it was a new one for my Mintarium.

That's so infuriating when companies do that. I grew Christmas basil a couple of years ago because I thought it was a new one for my basil army! Turned out to be cinnamon and not new at all.

Any other product being sold under a different name to get more sales would have trading standards getting very upset. So why can plant and seed sellers get away with it?

And to top it all it doesn't smell of pineapples...…….not to me anyway!

........and even more worrying - I don't know whether to plant it in the V, A, M or P bed.

I've had apple mint and pineapple mint in the past. Could never tell the difference (apart from the variegation). The slugs loved them both.

That's funny. I find pineapple mint to smell very pineappley . That and strawberry mint are the ones that are what they say on the tin . To me anyway .

You're not growing your different mints together are you? They start to smell the same if they are planted together. Learned that from GQT, and found it to be true.

I've been having an snuffle of the variegated mints. One, named Pineapple, does smell of pineapple, the young leaves particularly.
The Variegated Apple mint doesn't smell of pineapple, not does it smell of Apples or the same as Apple Mint.

                                Confused?? My nose is!!
