I tried growing cumin years ago with no sucsess at all. I think it requires a lot of heat and humidity, not really what we're used to in the UK.
I you'st to have a handle on the world .. but it BROKE!!

seems heat is imperitive, so will start off in Gh and harden off carefully.

after two attempts at home in warm rooms, on heaters and in airing cupboard the germination has been zilch. I have provided humidity by putting a bag over the pot too.
i wonder at the seed quality.

My experience says - accept the limitations of the climate

From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs.

I haven't tried cumin but accidently grew fenugreek - methi - a couple of years ago outside with great success. And we're in Sheffield! Is that comparable?

Happy to accept limits of climate but under favourable artificial conditions I am at a loss to know why no germination even at present.
Will try again in a less busy moment of year or when its hotter.
                Not quitting yet!

Oh dear - I just sowed some cumin seeds the other day. I've just put them on the windowsill with a plastic bag. I won't hold my breath though!
