  • herb wheel

im going to make a herb wheel for my garden. i have a old wooden drum that was used for cable. im going to cut out 8 6" holes and set it into the ground. is it worth digging the soil out and incorporating organic matter. we wil be planting corriander, thyme, chives, rosemary, basil, lemon thyme, garlic chives, dark oval basil and flat leaf parsley

Sounds lovely. What sort of ground are you setting it into? Lawn or land that has already been cultivated? The only thing I can see on your list that enjoys poor soil and sharp drainage is Rosemary, which tends to rot if the soil is too rich and damp.

        Hi, my first post...
I made a kind of a herb wheel yesterday using an old kettle style barbeque and some bits of off cut wood. Haven't planted it up yet but looks good and can be wheeled aroung the garden as needed eg. if it needs to be in the shade form hot sun...
