persicaria odorata - Vietnamese coriander

I wondered if anyone has given this a go. I got a plant from the garden centre today, and checked it out on Google, but it's nice to hear about other people's experiences. It looks a bit like a tradescantia, and there are a few roots at some of the leaf joints, so I've already taken one cutting. I chewed a leaf, and it's a bit like ordinary coriander, but I need to get a few more plants going before using too much. I'm keeping it on the kitchen windowsill as it needs heat this time of year.

Hi - I bought one of these a few years ago and planted it out at the allotment. Before the first frosts, I dig it up and give it protection over winter, then plant out the following spring. It divides / roots really well, especially in late summer and grows better for me than normal coriander. As an experiment, I tried drying the leaves, but they're better fresh, chopped up in salads & other dishes for a subtle flavour.

Thanks, the bit I took off on Sat and put in water has already got roots, so I'm going to pot it up at the weekend, and I'll put another cutting in as well. I've never had much luck with normal coriander either, but we love it, so hopefully...
