  • Feverfew

Today whilst picking up some compost I picked up a pot of feverfew. Now it is supposed to be good for headaches and migranes and some forms of arthiritis.

Does it actually work and if so how do you take it, infused in hot water perhaps.?

The received wisdom is that you eat a leaf in with your sandwich - this is the headache remedy. I haven't heard of it being good for arthritis. I'll treat my plants with more respect if it is - I might be needing them!

I have heard it is only good for persistent headaches - not as an immediate remedy like aspirin. The idea is you take it daily for several months before it starts working.

My mum used it for migraines and I think she noticed an improvement.

I've never tried eating it..........the smell is enough! The OH had some in a sandwich for her migraine but expected it to work with one sarnie and didn't have anymore!

I have a lot of it on my lottie. I did chew some for a headache - it is the bitterest taste imaginable, and did nothing for my head.

Yes it is prolific, be carefull where you plant it Piglet.
Rosemary is also good for headaches, just brew some up in a tea pot.

Yes Rosemary is very good for headaches, my hubby suffers or used to suffer with prolific headaches but not any more, I also love using rosemary in between my cabbages, keeps the whites at bay!

Feverfew works for headaches but never made any difference to my arthur! I dry the leaves then because they taste vile I have them in honey sandwiches or make a tea with mint etc to hide the smell and taste. Good luck.
