  • other uses for herbs

this may be an ignorant question but....
are there any herbs which have like a dual-purpose in cooking? For example I love coriander leaf but i also use loads of coriander seeds in cooking so i've grown extra coriander which i shall let go to seed for that purpose.
hope this question makes sense to you all...

Suppose it depends on what exactly you mean by dual purpose - Fennel is the same as coriander, but loads of others have more than one property - culinary and medicinal, parsley for both flavour and for keeping your breath fresh etc etc etc etc

I meant in a culinary way really- in the way that nutmeg & mace (i hope I've remembered that right!) come from the same plant. That said I'd be interested in any other uses for herbs- quite often you read use this herb for that ailment but they don't tell you what to do with it!

I've mentioned this in another thread but how about fenugreek? The leaves are lovely in curry (got a lovely methi chicken recipe) and of course the yummy aromatic seeds. I find that it grows very quickly too.
